40 Million Subscribers for Smart
It has been reported that the Smart Communications incorporated is expecting to end the year with 40 million subscribers. Smart Communications said that it would have a 1 million broadband subscribers by the the end of the year.
“Smart achieved these by coming out with products and services that address the needs of the different market segments. We’ve also continued to roll out our 2G, 3G and fixed wireless broadband networks nationwide to reach even those in remote locations,” Napoleon L. Nazareno, Smart Communications president, said in the statement.
They were able to expand cellular network coverage to 1,619 cities and municipalities and was able to launch mobile e-mail services for mobile phone subscribers in 2009. According to Smart Communications, broadband business would also expand with a scheme of allowing users to share broadband access and lower price points for broadband packages. The company was also able to test its WiMAX or the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access Internet service in some parts of the country.
