Due to continued increase in the price of sugar, the price of loaf of bread will also increase by P2 while the pan de sal will increase by P1. Some bakeries have the option of increasing the price or decreasing the size.
"Some of our community bakery-members have started their price adjustments this week to cope with the spiraling cost of ingredients particularly sugar," said Leonardo Figueroa of the Philippine Federation of Bakers Association Inc.
Bakers could only hope for the stability of the price of flour.

100 soldiers has been provided by the PNP to about 50 candidates in the coming 2010 May elections according to Armed Forces public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Romeo Brawner.
“As of January 31, the Comelec has approved the applications of 50 candidates who are to be provided with AFP security. That’s according to our Task Force HOPE (Honest Orderly and Peaceful Elections),” Brawner said in an interview.

Liberty Telecom Holding Inc. is set to launch its WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) in the Philippines after 2 month free trial in the Philippines.
Liberty is expecting its WiMAX and Internet broadband services to bring the company back to profitability, as these are seen to account for more than 90% of its sales and subscriber base.
WiMAX can provide 33% faster speed which is up to 1Mbps compared to other commercially available WiFi Services. It is a cost-efficient alternative to cable and digital subscribe line or DSL .

A Chocolate theme park is about to open in Beijing, China next week, January 29. The “chocolate wonderland” has a size of 20,000-square-meter. Final touches are being done on this chocolate theme park on the Olympic Green near the Bird’s Nest Stadium. It has the life size replicas of the Terracotta Warriors and a section of the Great Wall.

The reshuffle of the Bureau of Customs’s Personnel are being done before the coming May elections, specifically the agency’s Enforcement and Security Service which include an official in Subic Bay who was involved on a sexual harassment case.
The reshuffle has been signed by Customs Commissioner Napoleon Morales.
Capt. Ramon Policarpio of Subic Bay will replace Port of Manila chief Jose Yunchongco. Yunchongco will still be the chief of Customs of Police Department and deputy director of the Enforcement and Security Service.

The World’s Tallest Skyscraper which can now be found in Dubai will open on Monday. Burj Dubai’s exact height was not revealed, but they say that the tower exceeds 800 meters, which makes it higher than Taiwan’s Taipei 101 tower with the height of 508 meters.
