The fire in Baseco Compound at Port Area, Manila started at around 9 pm Saturday night. A 7.2 magnitude earthquake destroyed about 500 homes in Solomon Islands according to officials. The National Disaster Management Office assumed that thousands of people lost their homes because the average home in the Solomon Islands would house 4-5 people.

The two bodies of the fatalities of a sunken passenger ferry in the Province of Cavite that has been recovered by the PCG (Philippine Coast Guard) have been claimed by their relatives. Although it has been reported that the Mayon Volcano showed less visible signs of unrest,  this could just be a deceptive calmness that may eventually lead to a deadly eruption. This was according to the Chief government Volcanologist.
