The regional director of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Chief Superintendent Josefino Cataluna received a report that the suspect (former Maguindanao provincial police director Superintendent Piang Adam) in the Ampatuan Massacre escaped from the Sultan Kudarat provincial jail. No explanation has been given by the jail guards. The said suspect was transferred to the provincial jail last Dec. 14, 2009.
The former provincial police director is among the 63 policemen facing multiple murder charges for the murder of 57 people in Ampatuan town last Nov. 23, 2009.

According to the famous folk singer Freddie Aguilar, he is convincing  his younger sister Marlene Aguilar-Pollard to surrender her son Jason Ivler to the authorities. Jason is the prime suspect in the killing of Renato Victor Ebarle, Jr., son of Malacañang official Renato Victor Ebarle, Sr. over a traffic altercation in November last year.

The fire in Baseco Compound at Port Area, Manila started at around 9 pm Saturday night. Since most of the houses in this area are made of wood, the fire quickly spread through the place destroying around 500 houses and over 1000 families lost their homes.  The fire was put out at 11:00 pm by the firefighters. A 7.2 magnitude earthquake destroyed about 500 homes in Solomon Islands according to officials. The National Disaster Management Office assumed that thousands of people lost their homes because the average home in the Solomon Islands would house 4-5 people.

The two bodies of the fatalities of a sunken passenger ferry in the Province of Cavite that has been recovered by the PCG (Philippine Coast Guard) have been claimed by their relatives. Navy officers Lt. Christopher Pantaleon, Petty Officer 3 Almario Manalili and officer Reynan Sumalinog were killed while they were patrolling the coastal line of Barangay Kandiis in Muhammad Ajul town Tuesday night at around 7:25 pm by a former MILF group.
