The regional director of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Chief Superintendent Josefino Cataluna received a report that the suspect (former Maguindanao provincial police director Superintendent Piang Adam) in the Ampatuan Massacre escaped from the Sultan Kudarat provincial jail. No explanation has been given by the jail guards. The said suspect was transferred to the provincial jail last Dec. 14, 2009.
The former provincial police director is among the 63 policemen facing multiple murder charges for the murder of 57 people in Ampatuan town last Nov. 23, 2009.

According to the famous folk singer Freddie Aguilar, he is convincing  his younger sister Marlene Aguilar-Pollard to surrender her son Jason Ivler to the authorities. Jason is the prime suspect in the killing of Renato Victor Ebarle, Jr., son of Malacañang official Renato Victor Ebarle, Sr. over a traffic altercation in November last year.
“Sabi ko no’n kay Marlene na isuko na niya si Jason dahil mas madali ang gano’n kaysa naman sa nangyari sa pamangkin ko. Kaya lang, hindi niya ako sinunod. Ngayon, ganyan ang nangyari."

The fire in Baseco Compound at Port Area, Manila started at around 9 pm Saturday night. Since most of the houses in this area are made of wood, the fire quickly spread through the place destroying around 500 houses and over 1000 families lost their homes.  The fire was put out at 11:00 pm by the firefighters. The 2 injured people were immediately taken to the hospital.

Former President Joseph Estrada is about to return to Malacañang after almost nine years that he has been ousted. A 7.2 magnitude earthquake destroyed about 500 homes in Solomon Islands according to officials. The National Disaster Management Office assumed that thousands of people lost their homes because the average home in the Solomon Islands would house 4-5 people.
"There are 500 homes that have been affected but not all have been totally destroyed," Disaster Management Office spokesman Julian Makaa told AFP.

The two bodies of the fatalities of a sunken passenger ferry in the Province of Cavite that has been recovered by the PCG (Philippine Coast Guard) have been claimed by their relatives. The relatives accepted the fate of their relatives but they look forward to seeing their other relatives who are still missing.
The ferry sank 228 feet into the waters off Limbones Island in Cavite hours before Christmas Eve.

Navy officers Lt. Christopher Pantaleon, Petty Officer 3 Almario Manalili and officer Reynan Sumalinog were killed while they were patrolling the coastal line of Barangay Kandiis in Muhammad Ajul town Tuesday night at around 7:25 pm by a former MILF group. It has been reported that the Smart Communications incorporated is expecting to end the year with 40 million subscribers. Smart Communications said that it would have a 1 million broadband subscribers by the the end of the year.

Hackers deface DSWD Website with New Year’s greeting

Yesterday it was reported that DOH Site was  hacked and today GMANEws.tv reported that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Website were greeted with an image of the Grim Reaper and a message in Indonesian.
“HACKED BY ANDRIECOM … HACKER-NEWBIE.ORG, Indonesian Hacker-Newbie Community,” the English parts of the messages on the defaced home page read.
