Commission on Elections or Comelec earlier said that they are confident that the election results from the poll machines will not be hacked. They believe that the websites are secure inspite of the reports of the hacked national govenment agencies like the DOH (Department of Health) and DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development).

Comelec officials said that they are constantly monitoring on their websites.

“In case this happens that the Comelec website is hacked, there are still other servers where the data may be accessed,” said Commissioner
Gregorio Larrazabal.

The election results will be transmitted to different parties: the municipal canvasser, the server of dominant minority, dominant majority, citizens’ arm, Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas, and the Comelec central server.

They used different hosts for different websites to minimize the danger of being attacked all at the same time. But still they don’t claim that they are hack-free 100%

“If it is hacked, your best defense is that the system has generated several originals,” added Jimenez.

The Comelec will connect the PCOS or the precinct count optical scan  to a wireless portable device that will send the data to the servers. This is done after the voting. However, the delivery of the poll machines has been delayed.

The machines are to be delivered to a factory in Cabuyao, Laguna. Tests will be done to ensure that the machine is 100 percent ready for the May elections.
