Earthquake toppled homes, schools and Tibetan monasteries in Beijing last Wednesday. Earthquake’s magnitude of 6.9 magnitude killed at least 589 people while more than 10, 000 people were injured. Resque workers were brought there along with the food and medicines.

They have urgent need for more medicine and shelter.

"The biggest problem now is that we lack tents, we lack medical equipment, medicine and medical workers," Zhuohuaxia, a local spokesman, told Xinhua on Wednesday.

One of the main concern is the repair of the dam to prevent it from bursting. Those who survived this incident were moved to a flat area, others spent the night in cars.

Help has been made by different organizations but more help is needed.

"The extreme poverty of the region should be a reminder of why many in China do not recognize the caricature of the country as an economic superpower that is often painted overseas," London-based Capital Economics said in an emailed statement.

Repair of the bidges and roads around Yushu is needed so that transportation of medicine, food and others will be easier and faster.
