Tomorrow, May 10, 2010 is going to change the lives of the Filipino people as we choose who among the candidates will win in the May 10 Election.

According to the survey of SWS (Social Weather Stations), Filipino voters will not vote for candidates who most people think that are most likely to win.

The pre-election survey done last month,April 16-19 showed that 2 out of 10 Filipinos vote candidates who are No.1 in the ratings. The remaining 8 showed the voters who will vote according to conscience.

"Seventy-seven percent chose the conscience vote  by saying ‘Vote according to one’s conscience’ and 23% chose the bandwagon vote by saying ‘Vote for the one you think will win,’" the SWS said.

This shows that most Filipinos still choose those candidates whom they believe in and choose independently.

Popular support can make a candidate win according to most Filipinos.

"In a choice between the statements, ‘A candidate wins due to true popular support, with or without political machinery,’ and ‘The political machinery of a candidate wins the election for him/her,’ 78% chose popular support and 21% chose political machinery," the survey showed.

The survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews of 2,400 registered voters, divided into random samples of 300 in Metro Manila, 900 in Balance Luzon, and 600 each in the Visayas and Mindanao.

A few hours are left for us to choose wisely in the coming May 2010 Election. May we choose according to our conscience and our God given wisdom.
