Overprints for BSP’s 60th Anniversary
Overprints of the 12 million banknotes will be issued starting Thursday for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas or BSP. Overprints include all the six circulation notes.
The 20-piso note has the portrait of Manuel L. Quezon, first President, and the scrolls with the “Wikang Pambansa” and “Saligang Batas” inscriptions. The reverse Malacanan Palace where Quezon was the first president to ever stayed there.
The 50-piso note has the portrait of Sergio Osmena, a gavel which shows speakership and the Fuente Osmena monument which was erected for his honor. The other side shows the National Museum. The note also shows the “Gusali ng Pambansang Museo".
The 100-piso note show the portrait of Manuel A. Roxas and the image of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas head office in Manila. It also features the figure of a Winged Victory vignette.
The 200-piso features President Diosdado P. Macapagal, father of President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo. He moved the Indepence Day celebration to June 12 from July 4. Also shows the Aguinaldo shrine. On the other side shows the People Power II and the oathtaking of President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo. It also has Braille symbols for the blind and the microprinting of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
The 500-piso note show the portrait of Benigno “Ninoy" S. Aquino Jr. and representative objects from his life. On the other side are images of peace, unity and reconciliation during the 1986 People Power Revolution.
The 1000-piso note shows the portraits of Josefa Llanes Escoda, Vicente Lim and Jose Abad Santos who were heroes during World War II. On the other side are images of Banawe Rice Terraces in Luzon, Manunggul Jar in the Visayas and the Langgal (Muslim Mosque) in Mindanao.
