Overseas Absentee Voting in Riyadh
The OAV or the Overseas Absentee Voting started in Riyadh last April 10, just like in other countries. The voting will lasts for a month.
Complaints were sent by concerned overseas filipino workers who voted on the first day of voting. One of which is the absence of indelible ink. The voters were expecting an indelible ink will be applied on their finger but there was none.
According to the Vice Consul Roussel Reyes in charge of the OAV in Riyadh said that Comelec send indelible ink.
“Wala po talagang ipinadalang indelible ink ang Comelec dahil ang paliwanag nila sa amin for 30 days naman ang botohan matatanggal din ang indelible ink. So ang ginagawa po dito, we have additional safeguards para diyan. Kaya nga po ang daming pinipirmahan ng botante,” Reyes said.
Thanks to Boto Mo Patrol Mo, 2 said their opinions and observations. One complaint is that the ballot boxes are made of carton instead of steel while the other one said that they had no ballot boxes in their precinct at the Riyadh Embassy.
"All we have is a box made of carton, secured by a packing tape po. Why our government cannot even send us here ballot boxes na may Phil. Airlines naman tayo d2 para magdala ng mga ballot boxes papuntang Riyadh, Saudi. Why Hong Kong is electronic voting, bakit d2 mano-mano? Natatakot po ako sa mga boto po nmin d2, bka mawawala po, kac ang lalagyan carton boxes lang po secure by a tape…. thanks!"
The ballot boxes they used were the ones they used every election since 2004, Reyes said.
