What is Partido ng Manggagawa? (Labor Party — Philippines)

The Partido ng Manggagawa (Labor Party) was borne out of the realization that trade unionism, which is generally limited to struggles at the plant level, is not enough to confront the effects of globalization. Workers have to struggle in the parliamentary arena where it could attain significant reforms and enact pro-labor legislation amidst the offensive of capital in order to become “globally competitive.”

Unlike the traditional Philippine political parties which claim to represent the people and the poor but are really for the propertied and the elite, the Partido ng Manggagawa (Labor Party) proudly declares that it exists for the working people above all. It will defend the rights and welfare of the working class. It will fight the schemes and scams of capitalist and their agent in government against labor.
