The A(H1N1) influenza virus or swine flu cases in the Philippines is now increased to 39, according to Secretary Franciscon Duque. But there is no death case regarding this swine flu has been known. The DOH (Department of Health) said that there 6 new cases of swine flu.

Public elementary and secondary schools were not suspended because the cases of swine only started in the universities, wherein foreign exchange students were the ones infected. Their reason is that public school students have little or no contact at all with such foreign students andthat students in public schools rarely travel abroad compared to private schools. In this case private elementary and secondary schools can decide on their own if they will cancel classes.

The DepEd also reiterated that they already have protocols regarding the suspension of classes if ever there are reported cases of influenza A (H1N1) in schools.
