Pinoy Boxers to fight abroad
Filipino boxers will have their world fights abroad this coming Saturday which is Sunday in Manila.
The first one is the World Boxing Organization minimum weight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes will fight against Mexican Manuel Vargas. Nietes will face Vargas at El Palenque de la Feria, Nayarit, Mexico.
"I think the fight will go 12 rounds because Vargas is also good so I’m prepared for that. But if there is an opportunity to knock him out and finish the fight, I will grab the opportunity," Nietes said.
Nietes won the WBO belt over Thailander Pornsawan Porpramook in 2007, Nicaraguan Eddy Castro in 2008 and Mexican Erik Ramirez in 2009.
The second pinoy boxer is Rodel Mayol will face WBO junior flyweight Ivan Calderon of Puerto Rico.
Their fight is included in the undercard of “Furia Latina Dos” (Latin Fury II) which features ‘Son of a Legend’ Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. and American Jason LeHoullier in the main event.
Another Filipino boxer, Bantamweight contender Z “The Dream” Gorres will fight against Mexican Cruz Carbajal in a 10-round-championship bout. He is popular with the Mexicans because of his fights with Vic Darchinyan and Fernando Montiel.
