Swine Flu Fatality from the House of Representatives

A 49 year old employee of the House of Representatives who had swine flu died. But according to the doctors the death was mainly because the woman had swine flu also has a heart and liver disease which made her body really weak. Batasan Pambansa complex in Quezon City was shut down due to this. The suspension of work until Sunday was ordered by House Speaker Prospero Nograles. The buildings will undergo sanitation during the days of suspension of work.

I have already instructed the concerned House officials to coordinate and maintain close coordination with the DOH in order to mitigate possible effects on other employees and their families," Nograles said in a statement posted on the House website.

The other employee with swine flu underwent self-quarantine at home.

The death of the 49-year-old woman was the first in the country and in Asia, a health official said Monday.

World Health Organization’s latest update in the swine flu virus  reached 52,160 people across the globe with 231 deaths. In the Philippines, there are  445 cases of swine flu  as of Monday where 84% have fully recovered.
