LOS ANGELES – Alice remains the queen of the box office.
Johnny Depp and Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” took in $34.5 million to remain the No. 1 movie for a third-straight weekend. The movie raised its domestic haul to $265.7 million after just 17 days in theaters.
“Alice in Wonderland” easily beat a rush of new movies led by the family film “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” which opened at No. 2 with $21.8 million.

A Philippine court dismissed rebellion charges Thursday against a former vice president and 17 other civilians linked to an attempt by soldiers to trigger an uprising against President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo last month.
“There is no probable cause to indict the accused civilians for rebellion,” Makati city regional trial court Judge Elmo Alameda said in a ruling.

Detained Navy Lt. Senior Grade Antonio Trillanes IV filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator before the Commission on Elections Tuesday morning.
Trillanes arrived at the COMELEC main office in Intramuros, Manila around 9:30 a.m. where he was welcomed by his supporters.
Using the nickname “Magdalo,” he is the 26th person to file a certificate of candidacy for senator this year.
If elected, Trillanes said he would implement reforms to eradicate corruption, maintain peace and order and alleviate poverty.
