A Philippine court dismissed rebellion charges Thursday against a former vice president and 17 other civilians linked to an attempt by soldiers to trigger an uprising against President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo last month.
“There is no probable cause to indict the accused civilians for rebellion,” Makati city regional trial court Judge Elmo Alameda said in a ruling.
The judge, however, upheld the prosecutors’ indictment of 15 soldiers and three former military personnel, including Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV ­ a former navy officer facing separate charges of mutiny in 2003.

Armed Forces chief Gen. Hermogenes Esperon Jr likened military adventurists like Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and Army Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim to communist rebels, saying both groups are out to destroy democracy and grab power for themselves.
Speaking before the Manila Overseas Press Club on Tuesday night at the Edsa Shangri-la Hotel in Mandaluyong City, Esperon said that like communist rebels, military adventurists are “enemies of the people” and they should be put to their end.

I just read it in the net that Trillanes and Danilo lim has made again some move in Philippines. They are now in manila Peninsula. Team Unity (TU) senatorial bet Juan Miguel Zubiri led Genuine Opposition (GO) bet Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III by 476 votes in the canvass of election returns (ERs) from the 38 precincts of Pagalungan, Maguindanao, yesterday.
Zubiri ranked 8th in the top 12 senatorial candidates in Pagalungan with 1,216 votes, while Pimentel landed in the 20th spot with 740 votes.

Now that Trillanes has been proclaimed winner, there are still lots of question on how he can function as a senator while in jail. Some says that like Jalosjos who was in jail with a non bailable offense was not allowed to go to session and so Trillanes will face the same. But the only difference is Jalosjos was already convicted and Trillanes is Under Trial.

Finally Trillanes will be proclaimed on Friday ,
MANILA, Philippines — Detained opposition candidate Antonio Trillanes IV is the 11th senator-elect and is set to be proclaimed Friday, Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman Benjamin Abalos said Thursday.
The decision to proclaim Trillanes, a former Navy lieutenant, was made by the Comelec, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers, after finishing the canvass of votes from Surigao del Norte.

The Commission on Elections proclaimed Wednesday night 10 winning senatorial candidates, including six from the Genuine Opposition, two from the administration’s Team Unity, and two independents.held at the Philippine International Convention Center, CCP Complex on Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
The ten proclaimed as senators, based on ranking, are Loren Legarda (GO), Francis “Chiz” Escudero (GO), Panfilo “Ping” Lacson (GO), Manuel Villar Jr (GO), Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan (ind.), Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino (GO), Edgardo Angara (TU), Alan Cayetano (GO), Joker Arroyo (TU), and Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan (ind.).
