It has been reported that a group of demonstrators in Thailand caused the  leaders of the same country to postpone the ASEAN ( Association of South East Asian Nations) summit. The protestors are believed to be the loyals of their former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra who was ousted in 2006 coup. He was facing corruption charges when he fled to Hongkong last year.

Philippines President Gloria Arroyo boarded a civilian helicopter which landed on the roof of the luxury beach resort hotel in the city of Pattaya where the meeting was being held, an AFP correspondent said.

Myanmar Prime Minister Thein Sein had been airlifted by chopper to the Vietnam War-era U-Tapao military airfield near Pattaya according to a certain police.

Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva was the first to arrive by helicopter at the airfield, followed by Vietnamese Premier Nguyen Tan Dung and Myanmar’s Thein Sein.

It has been said that President Arroyo is safe according to Arroyo’s Press Secretary Cerge Remonde.

"The rest of the leaders are still at their hotels and police are waiting for further government orders," according to a police.
