Violence in Pangasinan

28 April 2007 No Comment

Yesterday I reported about the Nueva Ecija violence and last night another violence have occured in San Carlos Pangasinan.

SAN CARLOS CITY—-Mayor Julian Resuello and five others were wounded while one of his civilian aides was killed when two men fired at them as the mayor was greeting his constituents during a beauty contest at the city auditorium here on Saturday night.

Those wounded in the attack at 10:15 p.m. included a nine-year-old girl and a policeman. The mayor was on hand for the coronation night of the Miss San Carlos beauty pageant, a highlight of the city’s fiesta celebration.

Killed in the shooting was Eulogio Martinez, 41, Resuello’s aide. Police identified the wounded as SPO1 Jaime Almoite of the city police; Jonathan dela Cruz, 34, Resuello’s civilian aide; and bystanders Alwin Fermin, 29; Paulo Bino, 14; and Reyna Muñoz, 9.

How many more killings and violence will happen prior to election? How does our government prevent this things to happen? I don’t know. Maybe somebody on our readers may testify on what they see on their surroundings.
